As I move out of the position of chairperson of Mayne Island Early Childhood Society, I feel concern about the work that has to be done in order to secure good, reliable, consistent drop-in programs like Mother Goose for families with small children and babies.

Our little society serves families who’ve been here a while and families that are new to the island.  Many of these good people are benefiting from the work that we’re doing, I’m delighted to say.  I hope that some day, they too will have the time, interest and energy to work on committees or serve on the board.

In the meantime, I know that there are a lot of retired teachers, childcare workers, and other caring folks, and I hope more of them will step forward and work for the little ones on Mayne.  The more people who participate, the less each of them needs to do.  Please come to our next meeting, this Monday at 1:30 at the school.  We’ll be happy to tell you what we’re doing and where we want to go.  Please pass this on.
